Read Libby's Previous Installments

It is with great sadness that I announce, finally, the recent passing
of my beloved little Libby the Wonder Dog. As most of you know, she
had just turned 18, and those years were full of life, love, comedy and
many many frequent flyer doggy miles. She travelled the world with me,
happily ensconced in a bag under the seat of the airplane except when
sneaking out onto my lap, leading the way through virtually every major
airport in the world like she knew where the gate was, and invariably
bringing smiles to world-weary airplane passengers. She was always
welcome at her favorite Parisian restaurants, she sailed down countless
hotel hallways in hot pursuit of a little jingle-ball, she swam in the
Wallersee and even appeared in two opera productions: La Bohème and Der
Rosenkavalier. She worked her magic on everyone who met her, and
invariably when I saw someone after an absence, they would say, "Oh, hi
Susan. HOW'S LIBBY!?!?!"
She had spent the last year with my mother in Texas, and was happily in
retirement overlooking the golf course, and keeping my mother and her
husband Leon amused and happy. In early July, she had a quick decline
and the end came fast when it became clear she wouldn't recover from
congestive heart failure. The saddest decision one ever has to make,
but ultimately the right thing to do.
She continues to work her magic every time someone smiles remembering
her sweet little face. You might also remember that she had a
magnificent high soprano singing voice, which she insisted on trotting
out at parties. Ever the social animal, she was a huge blessing in a
little package, and will be remembered and cherished always.
with love,
